BLANCO ENCINOSA, Lázaro J.. Traditional Knowledge and Scientific Knowledge about Management in Latin American Companies: Bridges and Barriers. Cofin [online]. 2018, vol.12, n.2, pp. 190-203. ISSN 2073-6061.

The article analyzes the relationship between scientific knowledge and traditional knowledge on business management in Latin America and discusses the evolution of the first aspect. An important feature of business management processes in the area is highlighted: traditional knowledge about management is developed more by the influence of experience and examples, than by the use of theoretical sources, due to the existence of an informal economy majority, characterized by the existence of micro and small low-tech companies. They have been influenced by chieftaincy, ignorant voluntarism, lack of democracy, clientele, corruption and populism. The existing neoliberalism and neo-mercantilism are also analyzed and the debts that universities and business schools have with this business sector are exposed. Finally, it is concluded that Latin American entrepreneurs, formal or informal, must be empowered to better develop their work and raise the standard of living in the region and a set of ideas is proposed to contribute to this and to raise their knowledge about management.
