The society of the XXI century requires the university to train professionals who perform with autonomy, competence and flexibility in scenarios are increasingly heterogeneous and changing. This requirement explains that the educational orientation is recognized as one of the imperative actions, which ensure the formative influence in the transit through the university. From this position, the teacher is attributed the role of counselor, which has generated a complex environment in which the challenge of a specialized and humanistic exercise that bets on the support, support and preventive action of educational influence. The authors of this work have considered it necessary to inquire about the perspective that the teachers have about this assignment. Here we present the results of a sequenced study that included teachers from Ecuador and other parts of the world who share the same concerns and motivations, which has led to the importance of prioritizing the preparation in this area.
