The objective of this article is to assess the importance of knowledge of risk management and vulnerability to disasters for the conservation of national heritage, based on operational variables, such as the concepts of "risk", "vulnerability", "risk management" and “national heritage”; as well as the stages that comprise the risk and vulnerability to protect the national patrimony, and the impact of disasters at the national and regional level. The information on programs related to the subject was analyzed, which are not enough, so it is necessary to search for information that, in greater detail, achieves knowledge. Observation methods and interviews with decision-makers of the cultural policy of the territory were used.
