RUALES PARRENO, Ramiro Geovanny; SALADRIGAS MEDINA, Hilda  e  LARREA NARANJO, Carlos Alberto. Trends and Challenges of Digital Journalism in Chimborazo: An Innovative Model for Professional Practice. ARCIC [online]. 2023, vol.12, n.32, pp. 205-227.  Epub 01-Ago-2023. ISSN 2411-9970.

Digital journalism in Chimborazo today has to its credit a series of trends and challenges that have catapulted it towards a significant transformation, seeking an innovative model for professional practice; in the current context, technological mediations have redefined both the logics of content production and the logics of information consumption; in terms of content production, hypermedia narrative has become essential with the integration of multimedia elements, such as images, video and audio, together with hypertextuality, which has allowed journalists to tell stories in a richer and more attractive way; in addition, content personalization has become a key trend, adapting stories to the audience's preferences. As for the logic of information consumption, immediacy and mobility are predominant factors, where users expect to access news in real time and do so from mobile devices, which has led to a greater demand for short and direct content, as well as the need to optimize the user experience on mobile platforms. Hence, this challenge is complemented by journalistic ethics and quality, where veracity and fact-checking are fundamental in an environment where fake news can spread quickly; therefore, journalists in Chimborazo must maintain high ethical standards while adapting to new technologies. This proposed model is based on key trends, such as hypermedia storytelling and content personalization, and challenges, such as ethics and the practice of digital journalism, that shape the path towards an innovative model for professional practice; adapting to these trends and overcoming these challenges will be essential for the continued success and relevance of digital journalism in Riobamba and Chimborazo.
