DE ARMAS-ECHEVARRIA, Amanda María  e  BOUDET-ROUCO, Dagne. Influence on the aerial navigation of the subtropical storm Alberto in the Information Region of Havana Flight. Rev. Cubana Met. [online]. 2019, vol.25, n.1  Epub 01-Mar-2019. ISSN 2664-0880.

The subtropical storm Alberto affected Cuba between May 25 and 29, 2018, producing heavy rains and some dangerous wind values for air operations. To analyze the impact of meteorological variables on the Havana FIR1, data from 11 Cuban airports were used, where the pressure, direction and wind speed, precipitation, present weather and visibility data were examined, as well as the statistics of operations and overflights. Alberto mainly impacted the central region of the country where the international airports of Abel Santamaría (Villa Clara), Vilo Acuña (Cayo Largo) and Jaime González (Cienfuegos) are located. Although there were no major impacts on operations in Cuban airspace, intense storms accompanied by heavy rains occurred, reducing visibility and polluting the runways at the aerodromes.
