Recommendations for the care of retinopathy of prematurity in Cuba are presented. The aim of this work is to show the health actions that each member of the multidisciplinary group created to achieve the reduction of blindness by retinopathy of prematurity must take. The definition, etiology and risk factors of the disease are presented. The patients to be studied and when they should be evaluated are defined. This document also shows the classification of the entity, explains the behaviors that must be accomplished by each member of the team involved in the research and treatment of retinopathy of prematurity; it concludes with the evaluation criteria, which is the purpose pursued by the implementation of these recommendations.
