The medical records of patient whose fetuses had had echocardiographic diagnoses of complex congenital heart diseases were reviewed from January, 1993 to December, 1997 in Baracoa municipality, with the purpose of showing the possibility of diagnosing this type of malformations in non-reference centers for this disease. Among the analyzed variables, we may find effectiveness of diagnosis, type of complex heart diseases, gestation period at the moment of ultrasonography; pregnant patient's age and results of fetal necropsies. The main results obtained were: 17 heart diseases were diagnosed accounting for 80.95 %; main complex heart disease was having only one ventricle which was found in 7 cases; the most affected gestation period was from 25 to 34 weeks and the most affected age group was that of 19-30 years old. We finished our paper by stating the fundamental ultrasonographic indicators for the diagnosis of this type of disease.
