BALESTENA SANCHEZ, . Jorge M.; ORTIZ AGUIAR, Lázaro G.  e  ARMAN ALESSANDRINI, Gabino. Influence of some factors of delivery and peridelivery influencing on puerperal endometritis. Rev Cubana Obstet Ginecol [online]. 2005, vol.31, n.1, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1561-3062.

In order to identify the maternal factors of delivery and peridelivery influencing on endometritis, a retrospective, cross-sectional and analytical research was conducted at "Justo Legón Padilla" Gynecoobstetric Teaching Hospital from January 1st to December 31st, 20001.The study group was composed of 179 patients that presented postpartum endometritis, whereas the control group was selected simply at random (n = 230). To collect the data, it was used a questionnaire that include variables of the mother, delivery and peridelivery. The statistical analysis was made by percentage frequency, the mean and the standard deviation. To compare the groups, it was used the Chi square test with different significance levels: p 0.05 (significant), p 0.01 (very significant) and p 0.001 (highly significant). A marked association was obtained between adolescence, the aged, the primigravida, the post term pregnancy, the cesarean section, 20 or more hours with rupture of the bag of waters, 10 or more hours of labor, 4 or more vaginal manipulations, the meconium amniotic fluid, and endometritis. We concluded that all the above variables are risk factors for a postpartum infection.
