ARISTIDES, N  e  DALCOURT, César. Valor clínico de los estudios espirométricos. Rev Cub Med Mil [online]. 2000, vol.29, n.2, pp. 134-139. ISSN 1561-3046.

The historic references of the spirometric studies were reviewed and the contribution by Hutchison, a British scientist, who introduced the first measuring device, was underlined. Spirometric studies were classified as general and specific. The former is related to the type of subject to be studied and the medical specialties which generally prescribe such procedures and the latter consists of special supplementary techniques that may be linked to these studies. Requirements for measurements of lung function, basically patient's cooperation and anthroprometric characteristics to set predictive values were also stated. Finally, the diagnosis conclusions of pulmonary function disorders were presented.

Palavras-chave : SPIROMETRY; LUNG DISEASES; RESPIRATORY FUNCTION.
