The need of making, updating and knowing about the Plan for the Mass Admission of Wounded and Injured Patients (PMAWIP), its characteristics and principles and the recommendations for its implementation at the hospital institutions are explained. According to the specifications and requirements of each health assistance unit, the PMAWIP should be adequated to their conditions and the following basic aspects will be considered to design this Plan: interrelation with the territoty, management and control, communications, personnel, classification or triage and documentation. The PMAWIP is an essential tool to improve the quality of assistance in contingent events and its wide knowledge guarantees a high disposition of the hospital unit.
