MONTERO GONZALEZ, Teresita; HURTADO DE MENDOZA AMAT, José; MORENO QUINTANA, Patricio  e  CABRERA ROSELL, Pablo. Scoring system of the multiple organ damage in a burn model treated with Aloe b, ozone and epidermal growth factor. Rev Cub Med Mil [online]. 2004, vol.33, n.3, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1561-3046.

The experience attained in the study of multiple organ damage (MOD) showed the need to establish a semiquantitative scale that allows to quantify the value of the alterations observed. The purpose of the present paper was to design a method of study of the MOD by using a scale of semiquantitative values that would identify itself with the pathomorphological damages and that would make possible to evaluate the MOD in the used model. A model of dry burn with an area of 11 % was made in female balb/c mice of 20 ± 2 g (n= 24) and they were treated with immunomodulators and cytoprotectors. The organs were studied by qualitative evaluation in intensity degrees. The G test was used to know the dependance between the variables, whereas the t test was used to compare percentages. Duncan's multiple range test was utilized in the scoring system. The ethical norms were followed in the work with animals. The proposed scoring system was applied to animals from the different study groups and allowed to exclude partly the MOD from the animals of the groups that showed a better behavior during the whole study and to classify the MOD with a mild, moderate or severe intensity.
