HERNANDEZ LUACES, Luis Felipe; HERRERA HERNANDEZ, Reinerio; VASALLO COMENDEIRO, Víctor José  e  GONZALEZ LOPEZ, Armando. Ropivacaine and epidural lidocaine in cesarean section. Rev Cub Med Mil [online]. 2004, vol.33, n.3, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1561-3046.

The efficiency of the use of ropivacaine in elective cesarean sections at "Dr. Luis Diaz Soto" Military Central Hospital is made known. Of 100 patients, 50 were applied epidural anesthesia with ropivacaine as a local anaesthetic under study, and the other 50 received lidocaine as a control agent. A slower beggining was observed when ropivacaine was used and transsurgical analgesia was excellent. It was proved the existance of a sensorimotor dissociation, as well as of a greater analgesia on leaving the recovery ward among the studied patients. There were no maternal complications. The hemodynamics was steadier in the ropivacaine group and the Apgar score was satisfactory and comparable in both groups. The results obtained recommend the use of ropivacaine for being a useful and safe agent for the epidural anesthesia administered in the cesarean section in this setting.
