GARCIA RUIZ, Mercedes. From Lehman Brothers' Bankruptcy, to the Sovereign Debt Crisis in Europe: the Grey Five-Year Period in International Financial Markets. Econ. y Desarrollo [online]. 2015, vol.154, n.1, pp. 45-59. ISSN 0252-8584.
After Lehman Brothers Holding Inc. North American investment bank on September, 2008, five years went by in which financial markets' path went very erratic Such was due to, mainly, the soverign debt crisis in the European Union, and the flimsiness of the North American economy in terms of growth, fiscal deficit, and indebtedness. In order to reduce risks, and offer confidence to investments, the monetary authorities of the industrilized nations reinforced their expansive monetary policies; but their impact was not enough to encourage credit, production, and consumption at levels which could make possible to overcome the prevailing unsteadiness in the foreign exchange, bank, and stock markets in the world.
