MANALICH GALVEZ, Isis  e  PEREZ ABREU, Ylem. Industry, Competitiveness and Innovation: Challenges to Cuba. Econ. y Desarrollo [online]. 2018, vol.159, n.1, pp. 42-60. ISSN 0252-8584.

Cuba’s manufacturing industry has contracted sharply over the last few decades, with it undertaking more low value-added activities and less knowledge-intensive ones. This situation is due to its technological backwardness which is reflected in a marked trend to deindustrialization, decapitalization, and technical obsolescence. In view of this situation, there is a pressing need to change manufacturing as a strategic point on the agenda for the development of the country, with innovation being used in and applied to production and organization, so industry can be competitive and the economy can grow

Palavras-chave : structural change; technological change; knowledge; productive linkages; manufactured; industrial policy.
