SALAS ROMERO, Josmel; MENCHO PONCE, Juan Diego; GUERRA LLORENS, Yunaisy  e  MENCHO SUAREZ, Juan Carlos. Intestinal nematode prevalence and Labiomec® efficacy in horses of Camagüey, Cuba. Rev Salud Anim. [online]. 2014, vol.36, n.3, pp. 152-158. ISSN 0253-570X.

The aim of this work was to evaluate the prevalence of horse intestinal nematodes and to evaluate the Ivermectine (Labiomec®) efficacy over nematode in horses in the province of Camagüey, Cuba. Two hundred and five horses of individual owners were including in the test. The diagnosis and classification of the nematodes were carried out taking into account the morphology of eggs and collected third stage larvae. Three groups of horses with 10 animals each were included in the egg count reduction test. The prevalences detected were: S. vulgaris 27.3%, S. edentatus 12.2%, Triodontophorus 23.9%, Poteriostomun 44.4%, Ciatostomas 98.0%, P. equorum 13.7%, O. robustus 19.0%, G. capitatus 28.8%, T. axei 19.0% and S. westeri 10.2%, presenting significant differences regarding the origin of the sample for the nematodes S. vulgaris, Triodontophorus, P. equorum, G. capitatus and S. westeri and taking in to consideration groups etarios there was a significant difference for P. equorum and S. westeri. It was determined that Labiomec® was 100 % effective in the control of intestinal nematodes.
