VARONA DOMINGUEZ, Freddy. The Fight against Alienation and for Human Improvement in Ancient Greek Philosophy in the 5th Century B. C.. UH [online]. 2018, n.285, pp. 249-261. ISSN 0253-9276.

This essay is focused on the works of Democritus of Abdera, sophists, and Socrates. It is aimed at showing that their thoughts and ideas were intended to fight against alienation and improve human being. Most of them are associated with morality, education, and love. It is stressed that some of them are still valid today. It was found, among other things, that, besides considering education to be a way of improving human being, these philosophers also considered it to be a powerful way of fighting against some types of alienation typical of that time. This finding is theoretically novel because consulted books on ancient Greek philosophy don't deal with it.

Palavras-chave : Greek Philosophy; Alienation; Human Improvement; Education.
