GARCIA ROCHE, Amanda de la Caridad. Conversational markers focusing on alterity in a sample of colloquial Spanish in Havana. UH [online]. 2018, n.286, pp. 72-81. ISSN 0253-9276.
In conversation as a communicative activity based on information exchange, units of speech with diverse functions are used. Among them, there are discourse markers. In colloquial speech whose features are spontaneity and lack of planning, these particles are specially used. This paper is a first approach to discourse markers in colloquial Spanish in Havana. Their use in some sample conversations was verified first, and then it was examined how often Havanan speakers use markers of otherness, and what functions these markers have in discourse. The results show that these units are very frequently used in colloquial conversations in Havana.
