VALDES DIAZ, Luis Rubén. Ecological crisis or political crisis?. UH [online]. 2018, n.286, pp. 171-182. ISSN 0253-9276.

Is ecological crisis due to natural phenomena only? Is it a result of evolutionary processes in nature? Or is it, rather, a result of political crisis and crisis of governance which the world is going through at present? One of the urgent problems that the world faces is ecological crisis. The evolution of the human race is running the risk of essentially altering due to the ways the environment is being changed. Man´s habitat is in danger, and it is man himself who is destroying it. The model of social and economic development, which is used by human being, has caused climate change, exhaustion of resources, biodiversity loss, hunger, poverty, illnesses, wars, a more and more unequal development which has divided our species into two groups - a very wealthy minority, and a very poor majority. The negative human impact on the environment questions global governance which has not achieved cooperation among governments worldwide -some of them take an exclusive and competitive stance on adopting environmental friendly policies- to take collective action to reshape the current model of social development.

Palavras-chave : governance; Ecological crisis; Inequality.
