This article addresses the issue of the internationalization of Higher Education in the contemporary context, particularly contextualized in the realities of Mexico and Cuba. In this sense, the purpose is to assess the significance of this trend and its contribution to the comprehensive development of the substantive functions of the University. A cooperation experience between three HEIs is also presented: The University of Havana, Cuba, through the Center for Studies for the Improvement of Higher Education (CEPES), the Autonomous University of Chiapas, Mexico, and the University of Matanzas, Cuba, a relationship that has had a favorable impact on academic and scientific development, as well as their socialization.
