The conception and results of a study that aimed to identify the main trends related to the topics of doctoral research in educational sciences developed in five universities in eastern Cuba, between the years 2019 and 2021, are presented. Of 216 theses and the use of qualitative content analysis as a fundamental methodological resource, two general categories were identified (named after the educational levels to which the themes grouped in them are taxed), which were divided into 14 subcategories (general themes) referred to to study subjects related to the specific objects of the educational sciences to which doctoral research is taxed, from which trends that characterize the behavior of the object of study were determined.
