AMARO CANO, María del Carmen; ENRIQUEZ BORGES, . Hilda; VAZQUEZ PRIET, Isabel  e  MORF, Teresa. ¿Por qué se constituyó una Comisión Nacional de Ética y Bioética en Enfermería?. Rev Cubana Enfermer [online]. 2001, vol.17, n.1, pp. 65-69. ISSN 1561-2961.

This paper deals with the personal experiences of the founders of the National Commission of Nursing Ethics. All the information given by them about the setting-up of the Commission, its objectives and immediate and mediate prospects are included here. This paper was submitted to the I Meeting-Workshop organized by the Professorships of Bioethics of the Higher Institue of Medical Sciences of Havana, in 1996. This meeting was of great interest for the participants, among whom there were physicians, stomatologists, philosophers, psychologists, sociologists, lawyers and pedagogists. The early view about the topic of Cuban nurses and the role played by their National Division and the Cuban Nursing Society that at that time decided to give all the logistic and moral support to this humanistic discipline so important for professional development and, specially, for competence and performance, attracted our attention.

Palavras-chave : BIOETHICS [history]; ETHICS, NURSING [history]; EDUCATION, NURSING, GRADUATE; COMMISSION FOR PROFESSIONAL AND HOSPITAL ACTIVITIES.
