We live in an aging society. By tradition, society has feed a series of myths, taboos, and negative stereotypes on sexuality in third age, difficulting a serious study of this matter. We made a descriptive study to determine relationship between clinical stage and self-perception of sexuality in gerontics with a gender vision. Sample included 40 patients located into two groups, one of study including 20 patients admitted in "Dr. Celestino Hernández" Geriatric Hospital and other of controls including 20 patients of Grandparent Circle of 75-1 Family Physicians Consulting Room of "Ramón Pando" Polyclinic of Santa Clara municipality with a review of Geriatric History, applying a sexuality questionnaire, self-esteem and self-evaluation inventory. Information retrieved was analyzed in a quantitative way. Interestingly, surveyed persons from Parents Circle had more cardiovascular diseases influencing in a great percentage in self-perception of sexuality. Self-esteem and self-evaluation were directly related each other, and self-perception of sexuality. There were differences related directly to coincidence of these three levels, greater in control group. We concluded that active sexuality of both groups has repercussion on wellbeing, mental health, and quality of life.
