A quasi-experimental study was conducted to assess the sociolaboral conditions, as the base for care management of formal carers in units with a high complexity in the Camagüey province, Cuba from January, 2007 to January, 2008. Sample included 257 nursing professionals working in the services of severely ill care. Study had three phases: Phase I: problem identification (applying the observation guide and questionnaire) creating a form as the database for the variables of professional category, work environment, care task. The Phase II was the Assessment, based in the proposed measures indicators. Data were processed by means of the Spss version 11,0 statistic package. Elements were described before and after implementation of strategies according to work environment and care task. Analyzing the professional performance assessment, 254 proposed to have satisfaction in its performance after strategies (98,83%) demonstrating that the improvement of sociolaboral conditions in units with a high complexity, is one of the essential bases for care management in the health maintenance of the nursing professionals.
