Introduction:

The training of human talent in health requires the articulation of theoretical and practical activities, a reason why interaction with healthcare institutions is essential.

Objective:

To evaluate the situation of training practice settings in the Colombian health model.

Methods:

Qualitative evaluation study. A review of the setting of Colombian universities and the regulations on the teaching-service relationship was carried out. For the analysis, the software Atlas Ti (version 8.0) was used, licensed by the University of Caldas.

Results:

161 higher education institutions were identified in Colombia. A response was obtained from 32 public universities and from six private universities. The regulatory review highlighted Decree 2376 of 2010, which regulates the teaching-service relationship for the training of human talent in health. The main compensation forms reported were places in postgraduate programs, enrollment discounts, places in continuing education, payment of bills for goods and supplies. The source of financing for higher education institutions, for the most part, has been their own resources.

Conclusions:

In the Colombian health model, there is a regulation that supports the teaching-service relationship process. The contributions, support, and interaction between healthcare institutions and higher education institutions are required to offer students the different possibilities that will lead them to achieve the general and specific competences of their profession.
