CACERES TOLEDO, María; MARQUEZ FERNANDEZ, Melba e BELLO, Primitivo. Usefulness of video-assisted pupillography in the study of pupillary dynamics. Rev Cubana Oftalmol [online]. 2004, vol.17, n.1, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1561-3070.
The video-assisted pupillography with infrared camera is a new technique that is very useful in the study of pupillary dynamics. In order to establish the normal pupilary parameters with this technique, it was studied a group of sound subjects that allow to know their affectation in other diseases. A total of 40 sound subjects, 18 men and 22 women, were examined by using this technique. The average age was 34.7 years old with a standard deviation of 10.3. The mean values of the pupillary parameters determined by this new technology may be observed in the results. There was a relation of these parameters with age and it was statistically significant with the speed of mean pupillary contraction and with the speed of mean pupillary dilation (p<0.05).There were no statistically significant differences as regards sex or one eye with the other. The normal mean values of the pupillary parameters mentioned before are the fundamental basis for studying other ocular and systemic diseases
