The changes in the economic policies worldwide at the beginning of the 80´s introduced the idea of the importance of trade liberalization as a fundamental strategy to advance the development of countries. Such a theory has been gaining ground since the boost to free trade agreements between nations. The central statement of these treaties is to generate a large world and continental market that allows the free movement of merchandises and is ruled by offer and demand. Among the main sectors seeking to be included in the economic integration proposal is the market of goods, services, agricultural products and state purchases as well as the set of sectors in charge of trading goods upon which copyright is granted. These sectors have a high incidence on the health sector and thus, on the guarantee of the right to health care. This article showed the impact that free trade agreements have on guarantee of this right, concluded that the proposals of these treaties in relation to the health care sector paves the way to a more extensive privatization of the sector started with the reforms of the 80´s. Therefore, they give more impetus to the conception of health as a private consumer's good that may be acquired in a health service market, making it difficult to see it as a human right and public good
