The historical evolution of medical education is analyzed in this paper. This analysis addresses the experience of the implementation of an intersectoral strategic alliance with a local approach. This proposal is based on the establishment of a cooperation agreement between the School of Health Sciences of Ambato Technical University, the Provincial Health Division of Tungurahua and the distinguished Pelileo Major´s Office in the Republic of Ecuador, and it is aimed at opeing new teaching scenarios for training of medical students and contributing to the solution of health problems already identified in the community, where the University will become the leader of the actions to be taken, thus promoting their quality and appropriateness
