BARRETO ARGILAGOS, Guillermo; HERNANDEZ CISNEROS, Raquel I; ORTIZ LOPEZ, Angel  e  SANTIAGO GARCIA, Yipsy. Scheme for the diagnosis of Enterohemorrhagic Escherischa Coli and other enteropathogenic categories of patients with EDA. AMC [online]. 2000, vol.4, n.4, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1025-0255.

A schemic is proposed for the diagnosis of 4 enteropathogenic categories of E. Coli in which feces samples were cultivated parallel in the agar solution, Mac Conkey and Mac Cokey Sorbitol; 3 to 5 colonis were selected (red of the first one; white of the second one). The preposed schemic uses harmonically the proposed techniques by March and Katman, and Blanco it al for E. Coli 0157: H7 with the variant of Barreto for enterohemorrhagic E. Coli and taking into account the hemolytic peculiarities of enteropathogenic categories that affect the human being, it uses this variant as departing point for its differentiation and for discarding those smears laking of entheropatogenic value, characterized by a total hemolysis. The enteroinvasive type is diagnosed according to what Prats and Llovet suggest, the classic enterotoxigenic and enteropathogenic are done as to Blanco and Blanco. The application of this diagnostic scheme has made possible the establishment of these enteropathogenic categories in patients with acute diarrhea younger than 5 years in researches performed in the Provincial Centre of Higiene, Epidemiology and Microbiology of Camagüey.
