Motivation of nursing students towards English subject has been a first order task, and so, and urgent challenge for English professors of Carlos J. Finlay Medical University of Camagüey. This matter is studied within the period from 1997 to 1998 with the aim of determining the motivation level of reference students towards English I and II relating the conditions in which they were thought this language at Secondary education and the first year of higher studies; and subsequently, to show the origins of low motivation level. Data obtained were collected from surveys applied to 54 students. Strategies were designed for the development of higher motivation towards disciplines, which is the final purpose of the research group. After the application of these strategies, significant achievements in the English learning in the first year of the carrier were observed, together with the attitude change of students as to subjects. The compliance survey applied, showed relevant data as to teaching performance, participation in classes and opinion status about subjects.
