ABAY DEBS, Vivian; PALMA LOPEZ, Martha  e  PEREZ ALVAREZ, Sonia. Resolution of the emergency services in odontology: needing strategies for a change. AMC [online]. 2004, vol.8, n.4, pp. 92-100. ISSN 1025-0255.

In a research carried out systems and health services at the casualty department of the Centre Dental Clinic, from January to February, 2003, 1 183 patients attended to this service 100 out of which were surveyed for knowing  age, sex, health area to which they belonged, resolution of the emergency service, existence or not of resources and diagnosis. It was proved that 99 % of the surveyed referred good resolution, the 1 % regular and 4 % bad. The main causes for bad resolution were the requesting by the patient procedures not established for the guard doctor, lacking of some resources and the absence of mechanisms established for the follow- up of patients. To this point of guard, patients of all the remaining health areas of Previsora (28 %), Finlay (20 %), el policlínico integral Rodolfo Ramírez Esquivel (10 %) and North (10 %), patients of the policlinic Rodolfo Ramírez Esquivel, North and west had a resolution of 100 %. Patients from 15 to 34 years old-had frequent attendances to this emergency service (54 %) and those of higher resolution referred (91, 44 %). The existence criterio of all resources prevailed in the 83 % of patients and caries diagnosis in the 67 %.
