AGUERO RODRIGUEZ, Manuel Antonio; GONZALEZ MARTINEZ, Francisco Giogni; MARRERO GIL, Julia  e  MARRERO GIL, Léster. Antimicrobial resistance in ventilator associated pneumonia. AMC [online]. 2006, vol.10, n.5, pp. 62-69. ISSN 1025-0255.

A descriptive, cross-sectional study was conducted at the Intensive Care Unit of the Amalia Simoni General Hospital from January 2002 to December 2004 to assess antimicrobial resistance in ventilator-associated pneumonia. The universe was made up of the totality of patients with ventilator-associated nosocomial pneumonia. Cultures were grown following the Baver-Kirby process. Acinetobacter and Enterobacter spp. prevailed. Tetracycline (12, 8 %) and Azlocilline (0, 3 %) showed, respectively, the highest and lowest resistance rates on the part of microbes. Gentamicine proved the most resistant antimicrobial.
