With the objective to study the neonatal mortality rate, the low weight rate, livebirth less than 1500g, childlike mortality rate and deceases during the year 2003; a descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out to 55 inquired children less than 32 weeks of gestational age and less than 1700g weight at birth at Ana Betancourt Maternal Hospital of Camagüey. The relation between mother´s gestational age, weight of the boy, associated risk factors, as well as the different retinopathy of prematurity stages that the premature suffered, was studied.  The conduct to follow was expressed.
