A case of a 46 years-old patient with antecedents to have been diagnosed and treated in this hospital three years ago with a diffuse progressive systemic sclerosis, was presented Then she was admitted with typical systemic manifestations of this disease associated to a Sjögren´s syndrome given by dryness of mucous membranes, (xerostomia and xerophthalmia) and parotid tumefaction. The laboratory study, including immunologic and histopathologic studies of skin and mucous membranes previously carried out, allowed to diagnose the progressive systemic sclerosis, while the current study, including the ophthalmologic study (Schirmer test, rose bengal, biomicroscopy), parotid gammagraphy, as well as the labial biopsy, showed the coexistence of a Sjögren´s syndrome. Likewise it was corroborated that the therapeutics utilized was the correct one in this association, taking into account its response. The systematic search of compatible characteristics with Sjögren´s Syndrome in patients with progressive systemic sclerosis should continue in order to solve in the future this interesting question.
