BU WONG, Margarita; SANCHEZ RODRIGUEZ, Nora; PEREZ DE ALEJO, José Luis  e  FERNANDEZ PEREZ, Miguel. Actividad de la Indigofera suffruticosa Mill en la epilepsia crónica experimental y su relación con aminoácidos neurotransmisores. Rev Cubana Plant Med [online]. 1999, vol.4, n.1, pp. 18-21. ISSN 1028-4796.

Authors determined plasma amino accids levels in model of experimental epilepsy with lidocaine-induced "kindling". Five groups were asseyed: one group of animals without treatment, another group of animals "kindled", which given mentrum, and the latter ones, given (per os) a dose of 0.06 g/kg pc of fluid extract from Indigofera suffructicosa (Wild indigo) to a group during treatment and to another one, before and during treatment in the development of model. Amino acids, taurine, glycine, thyrosine, phenylalanine, glutamic acid, and tryptophan levels were quantified using a amino acid analyser. There were significant differences (p < 0.05) in glutamic acid, taurine, and glycine levels in animals treated with regard to controls. Behavioural measurements were made.
