A preliminary physicochemical study of an aqueous extract of Parthenium hysterophorus was conducted aimed at obtaining a raw material useful to formulate phytodrugs. As a result, saponins, lactoses, aminoacids and polysaccharides were attained. 2 formulations were developed with the resulting extract: a shampoo and a lotion that combined are applied to dogs affected with scabies. Considerable improvements and no adverse reactions were observed.
