GONZALEZ VALDES, Yaima; SARDUY BERMUDEZ, Lázaro  e  BARRETO FIU, Eligio Eduardo. Complications and healing of the free gingival graft and the coronally repositioned flap. Medicentro Electrónica [online]. 2019, vol.23, n.3, pp. 278-284. ISSN 1029-3043.

Periodontal recession is defined as a destructive and slowly progressive disorder, in which the attached gingiva of one or several teeth is apical to the cement-enamel junction. A descriptive and cross-sectional study was carried out from January 2014 to December 2016, in the Faculty of Dentistry of Villa Clara, with the aim of describing the main complications and healing of the free gingival graft and the coronally repositioned flap associated with subepithelial connective tissue graft. The sample consisted of 45 patients and 54 graft areas. The most common postoperative complications were pain, followed by postoperative gingival bleeding and edema, in cases where free gingival graft was used. The healing of the donor and recipient area, evaluated as good, was superior with the use of the coronally repositioned flap associated with subepithelial connective tissue.
