SEUC, Armando H  e  DOMINGUEZ, Emma. Ischemic heart disease adjusted life expectancy. Rev Cubana Hig Epidemiol [online]. 2005, vol.43, n.1, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1561-3003.

Ischemic heart disease, is one of the noncommunicable chronic diseases of highest impact due to its morbidity and mortality. In Cuba, as regards mortality, this impact has not been quantified by a unique index that takes into account the severity of the disease. The disability adjusted life expectancy (DALE) is a relatively recent indicator that allows to quantify the effect of morbidity from any disease, mainly ischemic heart disease, on life expectancy. In this paper, DALE is specifically applied to ischemic heart disease in 1990, 1995 and 2000, which makes easy the comparative study of the impact of morbidity from this disease between males and females and along these 3 years. It is observed that the negative effect of morbidity from ischemic heart disease on life expectancy increases in a significant way in the studied period, and that morbidity has a slightly greater impact on females. The burden of morbidity from ischemic heart disease tends to rise with age in each of the analyzed years.
