ARNOLD DOMINGUEZ, Yuri  e  TRIMINO FLEITAS, Ángel Alberto. Quality assessment of the biosafety in the "Joaquín Albarrán" Clinical Surgical Hospital, La Habana, 2007. Rev Cubana Hig Epidemiol [online]. 2012, vol.50, n.1, pp. 67-75. ISSN 1561-3003.

Objective: To assess the quality of the biosafety in five risk areas of the "Joaquin Albarrán" Clinical Surgical Hospital in La Habana, 2007. Methods: A cross-sectional evaluating and tactical study was conducted related to the biosafety in the five above mentioned areas during July, 2007. A sampling was carried out according to expert criteria of the hospital areas. The areas selected were: Pathological Anatomy, Central of Sterilization, Clinical Laboratory, Microbiology Laboratory and Surgical Emergence Unit. Results: In analysis of the structure of the five study areas it was neither fulfilled with all the essential criteria nor with the 50 % of those not essentials. From the six criteria of this dimension, the first five (essentials) fulfill with the standard. Conclusion: The dimension structure was insufficient and the process was not appropriate, thus authors propose that the Biosafety Program in the study sample in the above mentioned hospital in July, 2007, was assessed as non-satisfactory.
