NUNEZ DIAZ, Brenda de la C; ARANDA REYES, Raisa; VALDES VENTO, Ana C  e  FORCELLEDO LLANO, Carmen. Analysis of HIV/AIDS contents in Medicine major syllabus. Rev Ciencias Médicas [online]. 2007, vol.11, n.3, pp. 131-146. ISSN 1561-3194.

The Human Immunodeficiency Virus affects 39.5 million people worldwide. Each day about 11 thousand people get infecte, approximately 40% of the new infections occur in young people with ages raging from 15 to 24 years. During year 2006, AIDS caused 29 million deaths worldwide, this is why an assessment of HIV/AIDS contents in the currently into-force syllabus programs of Medicine major and the proposals to include such contents was carried out. To that end, the theoretical method with the application of new qualitative techniques, such documentary revision, in this case syllabus program, and interviews were made to professors members of the Vertical Committee who were the nominal study group. With the assessment it was documented that there are impaired HIV/AIDS contents, therefore the inclusion of such contents in all academic years was proposed, taking into account the sensoperceptual, diagnostic, therapeutical, and rehabilitation skills which students should develop, as well as professors' scientific-pedagogical training.
