BENITEZ GENER, Aurora et al. Communicative tasks to develop oral skills in English Language for Medical Students (4th academic year). Rev Ciencias Médicas [online]. 2010, vol.14, n.3, pp. 32-37. ISSN 1561-3194.

Lessons designed to direct the teaching-learning process of English discipline for medical students in 4th academic year does not contribute to develop communicative competence efficiently, particularly oral skills; thus a system of communicative tasks in order to solve this problem was created. This is in line with the historical-cultural trend of teaching foreign languages, considering from the linguistic point view: the theories of the communicative competence, speech and context acts. Among other aspects, this system of communicative tasks offers procedures, methodological recommendations and a set of actions based on the development of activities for education in work to the professors teaching English discipline in 4th academic year of medical studies, these tasks favor the development of oral skills in students. The development of some of these communicative tasks showed the validation of this system, which suggests to generalize its application to the rest of the groups of medical students in 4th academic year through a methodological system of work.
