The current syllabus of Medical Studies is aimed at training a Basic Comprehensive Medical Doctor acting as a “Protector of Health” in order to design projects of health promotion and prevention of diseases, early diagnosis, together with adequate treatment and rehabilitation. This research paper was aimed at characterizing the syllabus of Comprehensive Medicine to medical students of the first academic year. Documentary analyses, interviews to the professors of the specialty, observation of lectures of the subject were the empirical methods used along with historical-logic, analysis-synthesis and systemic structural as the theoretical methods used. The main results showed: lack of an adequate assessment of the contents included in the syllabus to the correct assignment of the contents into the system. The syllabus of the subject to the medical students of the first academic year must involve an internal reorganization of contents; this aspect should be approached and conclusive to achieve a correct functioning. An adequate application of such contents, through the preparation of developing and comprehensive objectives of the lectures planned, will allow the accomplishment of interdisciplinary character and the opening to the curricular strategies of this subject.
