Resumo

Introduction:

cervical-uterine cancer is the second most common cancer among women worldwide and in underdeveloped countries; it is the most frequent malignant disease in women.

Objective:

to characterize the risk factors of cervical cancer in San Juan and Martinez municipality during the year 2020.

Methods:

observational, descriptive and cross-sectional study was carried out in a sample of 54 women with a diagnosis of premalignant and malignant cervical lesions, intentionally chosen, and who met the inclusion criteria established in the research. The application of a survey allowed the collection of information giving response to the variables studied. Medical ethical principles were met.

Results:

the age group 35-44 predominated (42,59 %). The following risk factors for cervical-uterine cancer were identified: initiation of sexual intercourse before 18 years old (70,37 %), presence of more than 5 sexual partners (57,41 %), history of sexually transmitted diseases (68,52 %), multiparous (61,82 %) and lack of knowledge of the risk factors of the disease (81,48 %).

Conclusions:

sexual precocity, promiscuity, history of sexually transmitted diseases, multiparous and lack of knowledge of the risk factors influencing on the occurrence of cervical-uterine cancer in this population predominated.
