Current status of stabilization lagoons in Mayabeque province under the Empresa de Acueductos y Alcantarillados of Mayabequeprovince supervision, was evaluated. The information available from previous years was compiled, and a water characterization was carried out in 2015 relating to pH, SS, EC and COD. As a result it was detected that from 15 lagoons that were built between 1961 and 2000, only seven are operating in this moment, three are not operating and five do not exist. Maintenance problems were detected fundamentally. It is recommended to carry out systematic monitoring of different active lagoons in the province, to set a permanent operator in each of them, propose a remodeling plan for the lagoons that are currently functioning and if necessary rebuild the non-existent lagoons, whenever the community so requires.
