Ernesto Guevara de la Serna was not a man of letters; however, his great culture and interest in conveying knowledge and ideas developed his communicative competence. A detailed bibliographical revision was carried out to support the following affirmation: in writing as well as in oral speech, especially, oratory, he proved his ability to use linguistic resources; arrange ideas accurately; select arguments, facts, and explanations; and adapt them according to the communicative situation and context.
