In early adolescence, positive parenting is critical to preventing complications. Adequate training of parents is essential, and they often express the need for more information and support. Aimed at explaining some theoretical and methodological foundations about this stage and its management, a review of aspects related to its inception was carried out. Authors and institutions were selected at the national and global levels that most address the issue. The exposed referents, from the most updated literature, allow, from scientifically documented bases, to determine those indicators that from the theory about early adolescence, its characteristics, management, differences with the school stage, role of the family, among others, argue the knowledge needs of parents, the most important figures in the generality of adolescent relationships.
