Health Psychology has led chronic diseases study and treatment to a more humanized and holistic point of view. Quality of life and specially health related quality of life has been recognized as an important issue in health psychology field, as well as a main factor to be considered in health policies and clinical practice. The close and reciprocal relationship between quality of life and health is stated in this paper. Some theoretical and polemic matters in the study of chronic diseases quality of life, as well as in its evaluation, are also mentioned. Additionally, quality of life components or areas are discussed. The need (or essential point) of taking into account patient subjective dimension in order to evaluate quality of life is highlighted.
