Introduction: in this work Literature and Odontology will travel together towards the dental prosthesis. Objective: to identify important references to the use of dental prosthesis in different books of the universal literature. Material and Method: bibliographical search of books in support form and in digital support found in Internet with academic Google searcher by using describers like: literature, teeth, mouth, dental prosthesis and implant for further analysis and selection of those that include references to dental prosthesis. Results: the selected information was classified into four groups: commercialization of teeth, dental care, conservation and cleaning, materials used in the preparation of prosthesis and psychological impact on patients who use them. Conclusions: well known authors like Miguel de Cervantes, Victor Hugo, Ernest Hemingway, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Isabel Allende among others wrote texts making references to dental prosthesis that could be identified and classified in our search.
