The classical theory of demographic transition refers the transit from high levels of mortality and fertility in a population until low levels. It's had its continuity in a so-called second demographic transition. This theory is an explaining of the processes of demographic changes experienced by those populations that maintain sustained low fertility and mortality levels and have completed the first transition. To do this, emphasizes individuality changes at the level of the family and the qualitative explanation of demographic phenomena and migration. In the case of Cuba, the authors maintains that has been completed the first demographic transition and found in second transition process with its peculiarities related to Cuban migration levels and others associated with reproductive behaviors.
