ALFONSO GALLEGOS, Yanet; GONZALEZ OLMEDO, Graciela e MIRABAL PEREZ, Yoanelys. Population, gender and female leadership in Yaguaramas. A case study. Rev Nov Pob [online]. 2017, vol.13, n.26, pp. 219-230. ISSN 1817-4078.
This study "Population, gender and female leadership in Yaguaramas. A case study", had as main objective: characterize female leadership in this urban settlement, from the management processes in which female leaders of the empirical space are immersed, taking into account the styles of leadership, difficulties, strategies and roles assumed by female leaders. It was confirmed that women take a more democratic style of leadership, from their own experiences in their private lives. These women have faced difficulties in the development of their managerial responsibilities, from the questioning of their subordinates, lack of understanding at home, excessive burden of roles, these are the results of problems related with gender conceptions and models that attribute specific roles to men and women, thus conditioning the spaces and professions in which each gender manages. This reality limits the role of women in society and their possibilities to contribute to its development. Hence the usefulness of the research as a contribution to the improvement of employment policies in Cuba and the quest for gender equality in all areas of society. A qualitative methodology with quantitative methodology was used, resorting to case study as main method, and questionnaire techniques, document analysis and interviews in extent. The research was carried out from a sociological and gender perspective, also using specialized updated bibliography on the subject.
