DELGADO RODRIGUEZ, Elvia Susana; ORTEGA CARULO, Daylin e ARRIAGA TAPIA, Miriam Yolanda. Social representations about teen pregnancy among school teenagers in the town of Colotlán, Jalisco, Mexico. Rev Nov Pob [online]. 2020, vol.16, n.31, pp. 18-30. Epub 30-Set-2020. ISSN 1817-4078.
In this research, the social representation theory was used to account for one of the mechanisms with which the experiences of groups of adolescents living in a geographical space are constructed culturally, socially and discursively. The objective was to know the social representations about adolescent pregnancy among school teenagers from the town of Colotlán, Jalisco. Its scope was exploratory, with the purpose of generating relevant knowledge as a tool to implement intervention strategies for the prevention of it. The methodology was mixed, including qualitative and quantitative techniques such as: observation, focus groups, conducting forums and analyzing demographic data. Consequently, we can point out as results that the framework of the experiences of these young people in relation to the subject of study is directly linked to a series of representations based on gender, hegemonic institutional discourses and standardized practices in a specific socio-cultural and historical context. In conclusion, based on the results obtained, campaigns will be carried out to prevent unwanted pregnancies and Sexual Transmission Diseases especially aimed at adolescent and young female population.
